06/28/2008: The new 2008 Members Page has been posted courtesy of the Harrison Family. Check out the great graphics design work that has be done to not only promote the SESMC, but the each driver. Thanks Mrs. Harrison!

05/13/2008: The SESMC Carolina Division event scheduled for June 6 at Tri-County Speedway has been cancelled due to insurance reasons.

05/08/2008: Myrtle Beach Speedway hosted our division for an entire day of racing on Saturday May 3rd. Donald McIntosh (SESMC Regional Points Leader) set on the pole with a fast lap of 26.406. Donald drew for the inversion & pulled the 5th place pill, inverting the top 5 positions.

#79 Jason Styron started on the inverted pole . Turn #1 filled up quick with the Styron, #47 Draven Harrison, #48 Sammy Brookes, & #01 Donald McIntosh attempting to make it four wide on lap one. Amazingly everyone made it through. Harrison led until #4 Casey Willingham brought out the only caution, a single car incident on lap 31.

Draven Harrison's machine was plagued with a broken header pipe which blew out the left rear tire. On the restart Harrison was overtaken by #48 Sammy Brookes. Harrison was able to bring his racecar to pit road without bringing out a caution.

#48 Sammy Brookes in the Eagle Cinema 5 Super Mini-Cup leads the field with #01 Donald McIntosh in hot pursuit. McIntosh is able to catch Brookes working lap traffic with 5 laps to go. Brookes dives under the lap car entering turn 3 while McIntosh makes it 3 wide on the outside. McIntosh takes the lead off turn 4 & never turns it loose. McIntosh wins, followed by Brookes, #88 Tyler Baird, #79 Jason Styron, & #4 Casey Willingham rebounds to round out the top 5.

04/27/2008: The April 19, 2008 event at Franklin Co. Speedway was rained out after a number of attempts by the speedway to dry the track. The Virginia Division awarded first place points to all those that attended. This policy was adopted by the SESMC in 2007.

The SESMC travel to Myrtle Beach Speedway on May 3, 2008. Myrtle Beach Speedway is a .538 mile, slightly banked tri-oval. This is the fastest track on the SESMC Circuit. For that reason Mrytle Beach Speedway has had a policy of requiring a state issued learners permit, or drivers license for all particants. Anyone that is intending on going & is under the legal driving age needs to call Myrtle Beach Speedway at (843) 236-0500 to personally request a waiver allowing them to race.

04/16/2008: Correction!!! There is no race at Tri-County Speedway for the SESMC this weekend. Earlier in the year the dates were awarded & then taking away. The printable PDF Schedule was correct, but the schedule page was not updated. Please take note of the schedule page. We are sorry for any inconvience.

04/14/2008: The last two weeks have been a whirl wind of racing at Franklin County Speedway.

April 5th's race was threatened by rain all day. With #01 Donald McIntosh & #4 Casey Willingham hauling from Georgia & #79 Jason Styron hauling from Norfolk, VA, "Mother Nature" was on our side. The speedway worked with SESMC Officials to allow our division to go out after the Late Models, when the track appeared to be in the best condition of the day. #17 Brian Arrington set the fast lap during our F-1 style qualifying. After the draw for the inversion, the front row swapped positions & #2 Brad Kennett lead the field to the green.

Arrington lead the race through 3 cautions. The third caution was a result of hard charging #29 Damian Inge & #4 Casey Willingham racing side by side for 3rd position while working lap traffic. Inge & Willingham collide on the exit of turn 4, spinning Inge into #45 Jeremy Dean & ending his night. On the final restart Arrington is overtaken by #01 Donald McIntosh. Arrington tries to work McIntosh, but once out front McIntosh was not going to be denied the win. McIntosh takes the win followed by Arrington, Willingham, #2 Bradley Kennett, & #88 Tyler Baird rounding out the top five.

April 12th's event at Franklin County was again threatened by rain. #47 Draven Harrison hauled from Chattanooga, TN, #70 Steven Starling joined us from the AMCS, & #79 Jason Styron made the trip from Norfolk, VA.

This week's race was contested from wire to wire. #17 Brian Arrington lead the first couple of laps, but fell out due to an equipment failure. #88 Tyler Baird took over the top position & ran out to a 10 car lead over #2 Bradley Kennett & #21 Robert Kuczmarski (2007 MMRA National Champion). Kuczmarski started on the outside of the front row & fell to 4th in the earily going. Kennett & Kuczmarski ran down Baird in the laps leading up to the 1st caution.

#25 Derek Law & #5 Daryl Mason get tangled up bringing on caution #1. Mason ended up in the front stretch wall. Neither car would be able to continue.

On the restart Baird, Kennett, & Kuczmarski are glued together. Kennett, after a number of attempts works his way to the outside of Baird. Baird was not going to give up without a fight. Baird & Kennett battle side by side of 15+ laps, with Kuczmarski looking for an opening to take the top stop. This side by side battle was more like a racing demonstration with Baird & Kennett splitting lap cars on the straight aways & in the corners while never giving the other an inch. Finally, Kennett is awarded the lead when #79 Jason Styron while running 4th is spun while working lapped traffic.

On the final restart Kennett gets out to a lead sizable lead while Baird & Kuczmarski battle for 2nd. Kennett wins followed by Kuczmarski, Baird, #48 Sammy Brookes, & #47 Draven Harrison.

03/12/2008: The following report was given by our on-site reporter & Regional Director Allen Mason:

Click Here - 2008 Points Update

On Saturday the sun come out in the morning helping to dry the track. We had drivers from Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. By 11 am it started to cloud up. We got on the track for the first practice @ 11:30 and after a few laps it started to drizzle and then sleet for about 10 minutes. After the track was dried and the Super Cups run their practice it was time for us to qualify. Donald McIntosh (01) from Dawsonville, qualified on the pole with a time of 20.06. The track was very cold and slick with no grip. Second went to Tyler Baird (88), third was Brady Marshall (20) and fourth was Joey Greening (17).

The top four would be inverted for the feature. On the first lap going into 1 & 2 we had several cars spin which resulted in a complete restart. They then ran a few laps before the next caution would fly for spins again. There were several lead changes for the first few laps before Donald would take the lead with Tyler running second. There was plenty of action among all the drivers in the field. We had several cautions because of the lack of grip in the track and some anxious drivers. We had a few minor crashes and a major one that sent on driver (Scott Phillips) to be checked out by the medics. He was found to be fine with no injuries and released. We had a rookie try to drive over his head, three wide in turn one and wound up airborne over the other cars taking a hood off in the process. No-one put out of the race because of this though. He learned his lesson and listened to his spotter after that. Did I mention that at race time the air temp was a blistering 36 degrees. We did have a long green flag run for about 25 laps in the middle of the race with plenty of action behind the second place car of Tyler (88). Jason Styron (79) and the 20 car played leap frog until 79 spun.

The last half of the race was just as interesting as the beginning, with position changes and spins. The final lap was awesome with the 88 almost catching the 01 with the 20 taking third and 79 coming back to finish fourth. There were 9 cars out of 13 that were still on the lead lap at the end of the race. After post tech being done; the 88 car was penalized for coming in a little light in weight. The rest of the cars passed tech with the winner having no seal; therefore being tore down and passing won the race and $500. We would like to Thank all drivers that showed up with the weather forecast as it was. Some traveled as much as 1200 miles to run this Icebreaker 50 sponsored by Race Dog, EES, Rock 104.9 and Snap-on racing. We also would like to Thank the new Super Cup series and Tri-County Speedway for inviting us to run.
