The 2008 Annual Membership Meeting was a true success.
As with our charter, the South East Super Mini-Cups held elections during the meeting for the 2008 SESMC Officials. A couple of new positions were created to assist the division. Richard Terrell & Adam Styron will be serving as Alternate Members of the Competition Committee. In the event of a conflict involving the interests of a Competition Committee Member, Richard or Adam will replace them & will rule on the issue.

The membership voted to require an MMRA membership to compete in events run by the South East Super Mini-Cups. Non-MMRA members that would like to travel in for an event will need to pay a $20 one day membership.

The South East Super Mini-Cups will also offer an Associate Membership. This membership is not required. An Associate Membership will give Crew Chiefs, Car Owners, & Family Members the ability to address SESMC Officials throughout the season. This also will give Associate Members a vote at our annual meeting to establish the direction of the SESMC & elect the following years officials.

The SESMC is a non-profit organization. All Officials donate their time for the love of the sport. This website's expense & the time to update it is donated. With that said we must have an income to cover operating expenses. In past years we collected $10 per car per event to cover these expenses.
In 2008, the membership voted to collect the $10 per car from the purse before it is paid out. (Example: Franklin Co. Speedway pays $40 per car for our purse. The SESMC will keep $10 for operating expenses & pay the purse out of the remaining $30.) This keeps each competitor from having to come up with an additional $10 to enter the event.
This income to the SESMC will be used to:
-Pay tech officials for their services
-Purchase Tech Tools & Supplies (Example: Gas Testing Solution)
-Purchase plaques for 2nd & 3rd place finisher at tracks that don't provide them.
-Purchase SESMC End of Year Banquet Trophies & Awards.
Note: Please keep in mind that the MMRA Membership money is managed by MMRA. MMRA's membership money is used to sanction the MMRA Touring & National Events. They produce an annual publication for the promotion of MMRA's Divisions. They also put on a very nice awards banquet to recognize the Top 5 in MMRA points in each of their divisions.
A monthly financial summary will be posted on www.southeastsuperminicups.com showing an up to the minute picture of the SESMC books. At the end of the season, the account will paid out (with the exception of $100 to keep the account open) in the form of purse money to all competitors that attended a minimum of (6) events.

One of the biggest obstacles that the SESMC has faced in recent years is maintaining a Tech Official. 2008 is looking to be the 1st year that the SESMC will have a dedicated Tech Official at every SESMC event.
James "Allen" Mason has been hired with the permission of the membership at the annual meeting to serve as Tech Official at all, but (2) SESMC Events. Carl Wilson will be conducting tech at those events. Allen will receive $100 per race to provide a full pre-race & post race tech experience.
The membership at the annual meeting agreed to not continue the "Pill Tech" Process. This was simply (6) areas of tech that the winner could receive through drawing a pill coinciding with that area. In 2008, the membership elected to leave the content of the tech process up to the Tech Official. The Tech Officials have committed to the group to do a detailed tech that will be challenging and fair.
Gas Testing was a subject discussed at the meeting. The membership authorized the purchase of a neutralizing solution for the gas tester that was purchased in 2007. This will provide another tool for the tech official to use & increase the accuracy of the tech process.
Raceceivers / Track Scanners were voted in as a requirement for 2008. This means that our tech official will be in the tower during the race to communicate with the competitors on the track to notify them of cautions, assist in lining cars up, & relay information to the drivers to streamline the event. Either the driver, or the spotter can wear the raceceiver to monitor the communications. Raceceivers are sold by Extreme Engine Systems for $125 with upgraded earpieces at the time of this posting. Remember, a normal track scanner can be used in the place of a raceceiver to monitor the SESMC frequency.

South East Super Mini-Cups "Summer Shootout Series":
Tim O'Brien at Extreme Engine Systems has teamed with the SESMC to start the North Carolina region. Now with the Virginia Region & North Carolina Region working together, we will host an (8) race touring series for the SESMC Title. The SESMC Championship will consist of (2) races at Myrtle Beach Speedway, Tri-County Speedway, Franklin Co. Speedway, & Motor Mile Speedway.
Note: SESMC "Summer Shootout Series" Events will follow MMRA's inversion rules as noted in the MMRA Rulebook listed below:
Rule 6.3
At MMRA Touring and Grand National events, the top qualifiers will be inverted for the feature
race. The number of inverted cars will be 4, 6, 8, or 10 and will be determined by drawing a
number. MMRA will only invert up to ½ the field, regardless of the number drawn for the inversion.
Only one number will be drawn which will apply to all feature races.
Virginia Division of SESMC:
The Virginia Division will be hosted as a track division at Franklin Co. Speedway. Sleep Safe Beds of Callaway, VA will be the track sponsor for the Virginia Division. Franklin Co. Speedway will be awarding trophies & purse money to the Top 5 in points at their annual banquet.
North Carolina Division of SESMC:
The North Carolina Division will be visiting Tri-County Speedway & Newport Speedway for their division championship. This new addition will be managed by Tim O'Brien at Extreme Engine Systems.
MMRA National Championship:
With the support of the Virginia & North Carolina Divisions joining MMRA, there is a strong chance that MMRA National Champion will come from the SESMC. Competitors will take their best (9) finishes at MMRA qualifying events to the East Coast Nationals at Shenandoah Speedway to decide the National Champion. All SESMC Events leading up to the East Coast Nationals will be MMRA qualifiers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Franklin Co. Speedway has teamed up with ASA to sanction their weekly racing series. This means that SESMC drivers & teams can either pay an entry fee of $30 per person entering the pits (just as you did last year), or pay an $85 ASA membership per person at the begining of the season and pay $20 at the gate per person entering the pits. If you intend on racing at least 9 times at Franklin Co., you will be better off paying the $85 ASA membership.
