EES_50_Lightening_Light_Raffle_Winner10/14/2007: Hickory Motor Speedway was the siteofthe last race of season for the South East Super Mini-Cups. The plan was to end the season with big event that would give all competitors the opportunity to win prizes courtesy of Extreme Engine Systems. As promoted, a weighted raffle was held after the race. Bradley Kennett was the lucky winner of the NC_Chassis_Predator_Mini-CupLightening Light Body courtesy of EES.

Tim O'Brien setup a large display promoting NC Chassis' Predator Super Mini-Cup, EES Engines, Lightening Light Mini-Cup Bodies, & a full line of Super Mini-Cup parts & accessories.

The race was packed with excitment from the drop of the green flag. Brian Arrington qualified on the pole. Tyler Baird (starting 3rd) was ready to go on lap one. Baird drops all the way to the apron in turn 1 & make it 3-wide down the back stretch. Baird, Arrington, & Allen Mason dive into turn 3 still 3-wide. Baird pulls out to a sizeable lead & no one looks to have anything for him.

Bradley Kennett & Robert Kuczmarski have to battle through the field after they both had a bad qualifing session. A debris caution with 10 laps to go bunches the field up & places Kennett (now running 2nd) & Kuczmarski (now running 3rd) in striking distance of Baird.

The restart showed that the top 3 were going to make the last ten laps Allen_Mason_Wreckexciting. Kennett & Kuczmarski make time with Baird, but can not make a move. With 3 laps to go caution is brought out for a single car accident involving Allen Mason. Mason was running 5th at the time & had a mechanical failure that caused him to hit the wall under the flag stand. The wreck finished in turn 1 where Mason was able to get out of the car under his on power. This setup a "Green, White, Checkered".

Baird leads the field to the green, Kennett works under Baird off of turn 2. The two are side-by-side entering turn 3. Kennett slides up in front of Baird on the exit of turn 4 as they come to the white flag. Baird was not going to give up easily. Baird gets a run on Kennett down the back stretch & makes a move under Kennett as they exit turn 4. Kennett & Baird cross the start finish line side by side. Kennett wins by a half car length. Baird finishes 2nd, Kuczmarski 3rd, Arrington 4th, & Jason Styron rounds out the top 5.

09/29/2007: Franklin Co. Speedway played host to the South East Super Mini-Cups Saturday. The division tried mixing things up by starting the race with a full field inversion. Rookie, Derek Law qualified on the pole for the first time in his racing career & went to the back with the rest of the fast qualifiers in the inversion.

Bradley Kennett qualified 2nd & started 8th. When the green flag fell Kennett looked as if he was shot out of a cannon. Kennett was leading by lap 8 & never turned it loose. This was Kennett's 1st career win. Robert Kuczmarski clenched the Franklin Co. Speedway Track Championship by starting the race. With the pressure off Kuczmarski rallied from his 7th place start to finish 2nd in the (50) lap feature. Brian Arrington qualified 5th & started 5th with the inversion. Arrington battled Jason Styron for most of the race. Late in the race Derek Law catches Styron & makes a last lap pass for 4th. Arrington finishes 3rd, Law finished 4th, & Styron finishes 5th.

Extreme Engine Systems gave away the following prizes:

Derek Law - Pole Sitter

- $40 Gift Certificate to EES
- (1) Quart of Cramac Racing Oil

Bradley Kennett - Race Winner & Biggest Mover
- $50 Gift Cerificate to EES
- (1) Quart of Cramac Racing Oil

Daryl Mason - Headache Award
- (1) Quart of Cramac Racing Oil

09/28/2007: The South East Super Mini-Cups have a lot to be proud of in 2007. Top on that list is Robert Kuczmarski winning the 2007 MMRA Open Division Championship. The Roanoke Times did a story on Robert & the incredible season that he has had this year. Click Here to read the story.

Robert_Kuczmarski_Roanoke_Times_Article09/17/2007: Myrtle Beach Speedway was the site of (Rookie) Tyler Baird's first win with the South East Super Mini-Cups. Tyler qualified on the pole & lead the race from wire to wire. Brian Arrington fell to 13th on lap 3 after avoiding a spin by Derek Law, but rallied to finish second. Jason Styron was the "Hard Charger" of the race starting 8th, & racing his way to 3rd. Bradley Kennett appeared to have a car that could contend for the win early by running 2nd for most of the race, but faded finishing 4th. Derek Law had the most eventful night of all the racers. Law qualified 3rd, spun on lap 3, & raced his way back to 6th. Allen Mason's car stumbles exiting turn 2 & Law runs into the back of Mason resulting in Mason's rear tires ending up on Law's hood spinning Mason into the inside wall. Law serves a "stop & go" penalty for rough driving & rallies to finish 5th.

On top of the $1,000 purse that will be paid out, Extreme Engine Systems donated (3) quarts of Cramac Racing Oil to be given out for the following awards:

Pole Sitter Award - #8 Tyler Baird
Hard Charger Award - #79 Jason Styron
Head Ache Award - #53 Allen Mason

09/05/2007: Myrtle Beach Speedway on September 15th is the next stop on the South East Super Mini-Cup Circuit. A $1,000 purse has been put up by a local company in the Myrtle Beach area, the SESMC, & the track to promote the event. All Super Mini-Cup drivers are invited to attend. Pre-race & post race tech will be conducted by Carl Wilson (SESMC, Tech Official) according to the MMRA rulebook. (Note: MMRA's sealed engine program will be honored.) Contact us at info@southeastsuperminicups.com with any questions & we will look forward to seeing you in sunny Myrtle Beach.

Be sure to attend all (3) end of year events that we are promoting:

Franklin Co. Speedway on September 29th will have a $900 purse for the (50) lap feature. This fast, 3/8th mile, high banked oval is the perfect size for Super Mini-Cup racing.

Hickory Motor Speedway on October 6th will be our end of year finale. We will be back with the ISCARS Dash Series (formerly known as the Goody's Dash Series.) This 50 lap feature will have an $800 purse & a weighted raffle for a new Lighting Light Body courtesy of Extreme Engine Systems.

09/04/2007: Labor Day Weekend at Shenandoah Speedway was another testament to the professionalism & vision of MMRA. MMRA was well staffed with a full tech area setup inside the track & (4) officials to oversee the competition.

Raceceivers were new to most competitors here is the South East, but it was a nice addition to keep the drivers & teams informed. MMRA officials used the Raceceivers to relay the practice rotation, directing drivers during cautions, informing drivers where to restart, & warning competitors about rough driving. This sped up the races.

The South East Super Mini-Cups are proud to announce that the MMRA Open Division Championship has been won by our own Robert Kuczmarski. Robert set on the pole & finished second in the (50) lap East Coast Grand National Event. Stephen Hershey put himself in position to win the championship by winning the race, but could not shake Kuczmarski from his bumper. Jason Styron drove his way through the field to finish 3rd after qualifying 8th, but could not make up the real estate in time to catch the leaders. Joe McCloud finished 4th & Allen Mason rounded out the top five. Other notables, Jason Dunham in only his 2nd start in 2007 finished 6th. Good job to everyone & thanks to MMRA for making this event possible.

08/25/2007: The South East Super Mini-Cups only have (3) races to go in regional competition. With that said, regional officials are working on race sponsorships, promotional prizes from our suppliers, & the region will be supplementing the track purse from the funds that have been collected in regional dues. Specifics will be annouced within the next couple of days.

08/24/2007: All competitors that are intending on visiting the East Coast Grand National Event at Shenandoah Speedway will need to have a scanner installed in the car that will allow them to hear the MMRA Officials. A splitter can be purchased that will allow you to hear your spotter in one ear & the officials in the other. This is yet another step in safety that will continue to keep the competitors aware of what is going on while on the track.

MMRA, Baby Grand, Legends, & Bandoleros all require the drivers to monitor the race officials. The preferred supplier for the scanners is www.raceceiver.com

08/11/2007: The South East Super Mini-Cups were back in action at Franklin Co. Speedway Saturday night. Drivers traveled from as far as Collegeville, PA (Stephen Hershey) & Norfolk, VA (Jason Styron) to make the field. With the excellent participation of MMRA members this race was a full points night for the MMRA National Title. Robert Kuczmarski & Stephen Hershey have been battling all season for the title with Stephen coming into tonight’s race with a two point lead. This race was the last opportunity to score points before heading to the East Coast Grand Nationals at Shenandoah Speedway on Labor Day Weekend.

Robert Kuczmarski started on the pole and never turned loose of the lead for the (35) lap feature. Racing was hot & heavy behind Kuczmarski. Rookie, #25 Derek Law started on the outside of row one with his career best qualifying effort. #7 Stephen Hershey & #2 Bradley Kennett tracked Law down & get past him around lap 5. Kennett clears Hershey on the high side a couple of laps later & set his sights on Kuczmarski. Hershey & Law begin to battle & #17 Brian Arrington begins to apply pressure to Law making it a 3 car race for third. Law & Hershey wreck in turn 1, ending both of their nights. After the restart, Arrington now in third does not take off well. #79 Jason Styron & #29 Russ Johnson take advantage, shuffling Arrington to fifth. Arrington gets his car going & catches Johnson. Johnson spins off of turn 4 bringing out the second caution of the night with 5 laps to go. Arrington is able to get by Styron to finish third, Styron finishes fourth, & Johnson battled back to fifth in the five lap shoot out.

The MMRA National Points tighten with Robert Kuczmarski regaining the points lead by two points over Hershey with only the East Grand Nationals to decide who will walk away with the title.

08/04/2007: Motor Mile Speedway hosted the South East Super Mini-Cups tonight on the beautiful 90+ degree day. If you have not been to Motor Mile this season you are missing one of the best venues for NASCAR Weekly Racing in the country. The late model race started over 30 cars. Phillip Morris (2006 NASCAR Weekly Racing Champ), Peyton Sellars (Richard Childress Development Driver), & 2 cars from J.R. Motorsports are just a few of the notables that were competing.

In the Super Mini-Cup event: Robert Kuczmarski continued his regional dominance, starting on the pole, & leading the event wire to wire. Daryl Mason had his season's best qualifying effort of 3rd, & backed it up with finishing 2nd. Bradley Kennett had his work cut out for him, starting 9th after a disappointing qualifying session. Bradley rebounded when it counts racing his way to 3rd during the caution free event. Brian Arrington & Russ Johnson rounded out the top five respectively.

07/05/2007:  July 4th weekend was filled with exciting racing.

Tuesday July 3, 2007:  Franklin Co. Speedway was the site of this season's 2nd largest field of Super Mini-Cups.  Stephen Cox lead wire to wire with Robert Kuczmarski and Bradley Kennett starting deep in the field and driving their way to 2nd and 3rd respectively.  Joseph Bission and Joe McCloud rounded out the top five.  This record car count would not have been possible without the help of the Shenandoah Valley Scaled Racing League.  This shows that different Super Mini-Cup divisions can work together to benefit the sport as a whole.  Thanks SVSRL!  We look forward to working together again.

Saturday June 30, 2007:  Hickory Motor Speedway hosted the South East Super Mini-Cups, ISCARS Dash Series, & USAC Ford Focus Midgets.  Nascar's Nextel Cup Rookie A.J. Allmendinger drove in the USAC event.  SESMC ran (50) laps under the lights in at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.  Brian Arrington won the event, with Allen Mason, Tyler Baird, Jason Styron, & Daryl Mason rounding out the top five.
